The 2007 winner of the Patsy Calton Award is Cllr Isobel McColl from Milton Keynes.
Over many years, Isobel has given her life to the Milton Keynes Liberal Democrats.
She was elected onto Milton Keynes council when it was created in 1996 and since then has
worked hard to improve her own skills and to help the LibDems to win more seats on
the council. She helped set up the new party in Milton Keynes and became Chair of the Local
Party. She also helped set up the Chiltern Region and as Regional Secretary organised
conferences. In 2002, the LibDems took control of the Council and Isobel was elected
Council Leader. Isobel is recognised nationally as an expert in growth related issues and
she is often called upon to speak at national conferences.
We had a huge number of nominations and the judges found it incredibly hard to decide. Isobel was one of a short list of three, our other winners being Cllr Heather Kidd of South Shropshire and Audrey Findlay of Gordon.
Congratulations to every woman who was nominated - you are an inspiration to us all!
